Computed one dimensional field of view for a lenticular diffuser film design.

Optical Film Design

Microsharp has the capability to develop new optical structures including micro prismatic films, lenticular films, diffusers, microlens structures and nano structured self cleaning films.

We conduct analyses using a range of software, including ray tracing and other analyses with Zemax.

For specific applications we have developed in-house software. For example it has software capable of generating optimised surface structures to create diffraction effects capable of masking heavily pixelated microdisplays (depixelators).

Optics Research & Development

The Optics R&D Team at Microsharp is involved in the design and fabrication of novel optical microstructures and nanostructures.

They are also involved in the integration of optical film technologies into optoelectronic subsystems.

Core Competences of the group include:

  • Photonic component design;
  • Classical optical component design;
  • Optical simulation using Zemax, Mathematica and bespoke software;
  • Optoelectronics for display applications;
  • Digital and analogue electronics for display applications;
  • Fabrication, lithography and replication of micro-optics and nanophotonics;
  • Innovation from component concept to design prototype;
  • Generation of patents in the fields of optics and displays.
