BLOLED  (Back Lighting Organic Light Emitting Diode)

Microsharp is working with OLED-T Ltd on a jointly initiated DTI Technology grant funded project to develop thin, high brightness, highly collimated, uniform full colour backlights manufactured on flexible plastic substrates. Such ultra-light and ultra thin backlights are used in display and illumination applications. Small ultra-light backlights are important components in the new generation of consumer, head mounted displays –”glasses for personal media players”.

This project will explore the integration of new, white light OLED emitters and related materials from OLED-T with advanced micro and nanophotonic emitter patterning and optical out-coupling structures from Microsharp, progressing from prototypes manufactured on thin glass, to flexible plastic substrates.
