Projexis™

Microsharp Projexis™ is a dispersed particle polymer diffuser film for projection and backlighting applications. It is a volumetric diffuser offering an ability to tailor its optical properties for an application.

The optically clear material is a combination of two polymers with differing refractive indices. A patented manufacturing method creates the material by standard plastic film extrusion techniques. For very high volumes there is a potential for low cost mass manufacturing.

Projexis™ offers:

  • Customised diffuser properties
  • Reflective and transflective options
  • Contrast enhancement option
  • Low speckle

Projexis™ is available as a 30" roll or in bespoke sample geometry including lamination onto a number of different substrates.

Each particle acts as a lens:

  • Small dimension of particles give a Large angle of view spread
  • Large dimension of particles gives a small angle of view spread

The diffuser strength is controlled by:

  • Diffractive index difference between polymers
  • Film thickness
  • Size and distribution of particles
  • Particle shape asymmetry
